About us

Routh Properties and Commercial Retail Group was founded in 1992. Through the acquisition of retail shopping centers our company has continued to grow to more than 100 plus shopping centers, warehouse properties, and office buildings throughout Texas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Kentucky and Tennessee. We have recently expanded into Kentucky, Oklahoma, Tennessee and New Mexico. All of our properties are personally managed and maintained directly by our company, to allow for a greater focus on the long-term success of the shopping center. Our company is founded upon partnerships formed many years ago. We work together to manage target acquisition, leasing, tenant retention, and maintenance of the properties.

Our company has redeveloped several former grocery stores and WalMart buildings, reinvigorating the spaces by dividing them to comfortably hold a variety of tenants. These renovations typically include new electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and an updated storefront. This process has helped many small towns turn vacant, rundown buildings into thriving shopping centers. We desire to create win-win situations for the town, the merchants, and our company. We are personally invested in all of our projects, and work to ensure the best results for all involved.

Director of Leasing & Operations

Travis is the Director of Leasing and Operations based out of our home office in Austin, TX. In addition to working with new and prospective tenants, Travis also assists existing tenants in lease renewals and troubleshooting their respective issues. Travis works to streamline our day to day operations by overseeing maintenance requests, accounts and billing, and other operational challenges that pop up.

Property Manager

Frank has been involved in the business industry for the past 20 years. His experience includes financial, investment and management skills. He has become part of our property management services; he now helps with leasing, hiring contractors and daily operations. Frank is bilingual and can help meet the needs of our Spanish Speaking customers.

John O’Shaughnessy

Property Manager & Investor

John has served as Property Manager since 2003 managing 24 shopping centers with over two million square feet of GLA. He received his bachelor’s degree, BA/CAAS, in 1986 from the University of Southern California. He also received the CCIM – Certified Commercial Investment Member designation in 2011 and the CSM – Certified Shopping Center Manager designation in 2013.

Kris Knap is one of the founding partners and a property manager with over 20 years of experience in commercial real estate. He is very involved in financial management, problem solving and he is also able to work with contractors to renovate and improve property values.

Clay Ross Routh

Property Manager & Founding Partner

Clay has 18 years as a property manager and is founding partner of CRG; he is responsible for operations as property manager for 15 properties. Clay currently helps other partners lease, manage, and hire contractors. He tries to bring a “real world” experience to our tenants’ needs and make commercial leasing easy – while still ensuring profitability to both partnerships.

Todd Routh is the founding partner in Commercial Retail Group. He has been active in commercial Real Estate since 1992.

He holds a BBA from Texas A&M University. He is Certified Commercial Investment Member since 1995.

Having acquired, operated, disposed of 100+ properties, we pride ourselves on efficiently closing on purchase transactions through cash, lines of credit or pre-approved loans.

  • We submit acquisition offers that make sense for the buyer and the seller.
  • We have no lengthy committee process or board approval – we are the principals and decision makers.
  • Our due diligence period can be as shorts as 5 days to allow for quick closing of less than 30 days.
  • The property inspections are performed by our team.
  • We close either all-cash, from existing lines of credit or pre-approved loans.
